Hi, My husband %26amp; I will be staying at L%26#39;Hotel Residence Monge in Rue Monge in April. Could anyone reccommend a good restaurant near the hotel where we can have dinner ? My husband is coeliac which means that he is alergic to gluten ( mainly anything containing flour or cereals) so he likes to eat steaks %26amp; plainly cooked vegetables. I like both meat %26amp; fish. Should we try to book a restaurant now ?

Not sure where L%26#39;Hotel Residence Monge is. I stayed at the Hotel Saint Christophe around the corner from the Place Monge metro stop on Rue Lacepe. I don%26#39;t recall a lot of restaurant activity on Rue Monge, but about two blocks away on Rue Moufetard (sp?), there were dozens of restaurants of all persuasions. I don%26#39;t know what your eating habits are, but if you arrive before 8 p.m., you can usually get a table without a reservation.

Networker, I just found out about this web site that might help you alleviate your husband%26#39;s potential coeliac problem while travelling. The site allows you to order small pocket cards for a variety of food allergies in several languages that you can show at restaurants to alert the staff. It%26#39;s worth checking out.

Hi Networker,
Just walk over to rue Mouefftard which runs parallel to rue Monge much of the way.............a zillion places along there to eat..........All kinds.....Greek, Japanese, Italian, French........Nice little eat in places or walk aways, bistros, cafes, restaruants, pizza palors....many.
One short street %26quot;Pot de Feu%26quot; is nothing but restaurants.......mostly French, mostly modest prices, mostly lunch and diner. It starts at rue Mouefftard just a long block away from Place Monge (where the Metro stop is).
If you dont want to make a reservation in advance, we find getting there a little early.....7:15 or so will usually get us in, though some may not be opened for business that early............
Have fun and hopefully you will love your Springtime in Paris.
