Making my 1st trip to Paris in September

I would like any information or suggestions from all. Wanted to go to Paris since I was 16 and so I%26#39;m trying to over organize I think. Going Sept 11 for 7 days. Have some tours planned, but don%26#39;t know if I should book everything ahead of time or wait until I get there. Staying at the Renaissance La Defense.

Any suggestions will be great!!

Tell us more about yourself. What do you like to do when at home? What do you think you%26#39;d like to do in Paris? There are a million options and it will be hard for us to offer suggestions unless we know more about what will please you.

Oh, but first thing. Are you sure you really want to stay in La Defense? It%26#39;s nice, but very modern, urban, etc. Pretty much without charm. It is very convenient to the major metro line that goes to the biggest tourist sites. Can you trade for something more in the city?

thats a really broad question/post so i will just say a few broad suggestions for you....

if you havent already, read one or two guide books about paris. rick steves or let%26#39;s go are the ones i read... it%26#39;ll give you a good idea of what places are like and what things you can do.

i dont think there is anything you need to book ahead unless you are planning on special tours or something.

ok im really sleepy and i forgot everything else i was going to say. but browse other posts on this board and you will find great suggestions to more specific topics.

me sleep now, goodnight

We have planned one day trip to London because I really want to do that on the Eurotrain. I%26#39;m trying to decide if I want to go to the Moulin Rouge show or if I just want to see it.

I%26#39;ve already booked La Defense and did it on Priceline. No change possible, but we are optimistic about having the Metro close and having that to do too. I%26#39;ve read dozens of books down to Paris for Dummies!!!!

I live in a rural area in California and came from a small town in Missouri, so I want to see as much as possible in our short time. Thinking guided tours may be the best way and then exploring on our own too.

To get lots of info, much of it accumulated here, may I suggest finding KelBel%26#39;s post (with over 250 responses) and ask her to e-mail you a copy of her travel planning package/notes. You should find lots of good ideas in there.

Thanks. I will do that!! There should be lots of advise there.
