Museum pass necessary for students?

Will it be necessary to purchase museum passes for my 2 granddaughers (ages 16 and 12) when we visit Paris next month? I know the older one has her high school student i.d. card, but am not sure if the 7th grader has one.

It%26#39;s free for kids under 18. They don%26#39;t need to be students.

Of course this only applies to certain places.

Search for %26#39;museum children free%26#39; for more info.

A great MANY (but NOT all) museums will offer free %26#39;..general admission..%26quot; (there may be a charge for any special exhibits) to those under 18 years old. Those which will be free to under-18%26#39;s will be all of the National (i.e. Louvre, d%26#39;Orsay, Picasso, Rodin, Centre Pompidou, etc). All of the museums under the auspicous of the City of Paris are now free to all. If these under-18%26#39;s are accompanying adults with Carte Musee et Monuments passes, they by-pass normal ticket lines and enter along with the museum pass holders. In some instances proof of age may be required. Most often a photocopy of the information page of their passports will be more than sufficient. The most notable exceptions to this will be Invalides and Conciergerie (under 12 free) and Musee Marmottan (under-8 free).
