Metro question

On a 10 ticket %26quot;carte%26quot; pass is there a zone restriction?

On the daily pass, there is a zone restriction, would zone 1 - 5 pretty much cover all the touristy places.

Thanks

It%26#39;s not a %26quot;carte%26quot; but a %26quot;carnet%26quot; of 10 tickets. They are good anywhere the metro goes, regardless of the zone. Nearly all the touristy places are actually within zones 1-3.

A CARNET is NOT a transportation pass (carte). It is a reduced price booklet of ten(10) individual Metro/Bus tickets. Each ticket is good for two(2) %26#39;..zones..%26#39; of travel.

ALL of the city of Paris (an a bit beyond in some specific instances) is within Zones 1 %26amp; 2. So any individual ticket or transportation pass covering Zone 1-2 will take you ANYWHERE you want to go within Paris and ANYWHERE on the regular Metro lignes (#1-thru-#14). If you want to travel outside of Paris---to Versailles(Zone 4), Disneyland Paris (Zone 5), CDG (Zone 5) or ORLY(Zone 4) airports as examples--- this must be done on one of the RER surburban/regional rail lignes (A,B,C,D, E) and will require either a separate ticket or a multi-zone (Zone 1-5)transportation pass. If all you want to do is get around to the sites and attractions within the City of Paris all you need is a single Metro/Bus ticket or Zone 1-2 transportation pass.

Though you can transfer for free between different Metro lignes, within the same station; there are NO FREE TRANSFERS BETWEEN PUBLIC BUSES. You must use a new ticket each time you board a public bus. One of the advantages of any of the various transportation pass options (Carte Orange, Mobilis, Paris Visite) is hop-on/hop-off convenience for buses. All you need do is display your transportation pass to the bus driver when your board a public bus.

A question similar to the previous one:

With the carnet of 10 tickets, can I hop on the BUS from Versailles RG to somewhere in Zone 5 (Voisins le Bx) with one of those tickets, and then from one please in zone 5 to another?

thanks,

zach

No, you cannot take a bus in the %26quot;banlieu%26quot;. The carnet only covers zones 1 and 2. You will need to buy a separate ticket for that, or else get a carte orange or mobilis that covers zone 5. However, for 95% of tourists, you will be better off buying a single ticket.
