Coffee tips

My husband %26amp; I need our coffee everyday. Especially in the morging to get us going. We do not have breakfast included in our hotel booking. Any tips on ordering coffee in Paris since we are used to the unimitted refills when we go out to eat?

Merci

Un cafe or un espresso = One espresso, think very small

Un Cafe Creme = One espresso with steamed milk.

Un Cafe american = one espresso with hot water added to make it weaker and larger

Un Cappucino = One espresso with steamed milk and whipped cream on top.

|||

Un cafe noisette = espresso with a dash of milk (cold or hot).

|||

Un Creme - standard size cafe creme ( similar to a latte)

Un Grand Creme - large Cafe Creme.

Coffee is more expensive in Paris, so you may have to shop around! But they do have Starbucks ;)

As you like unlimited refills, maybe you should try the breakfast at your hotel first.

If you like it, it may be cheaper than going to a cafe, where you%26#39;ll have to pay for each cup.

Most (not all) hotels offer buffets where you can help yourself with whatever is offered.

I suggest you take a jar of instant coffee. The coffee they have in Paris is expresso. You can water it down, or order cafe olait, which I grew to like. Neither is it cheap. approx. 6 euros per.

If you%26#39;re paying 6 euros each, you%26#39;re going to the wrong places!! You should be able to get un grand creme at most cafes for around 2 euros if you stand at the counter.

Bonjour Winy,

I really hate to suggest this, but there is always MacDonalds! A euro for a pretty much %26quot;American%26quot; container of coffee (almost full) and there will surely be one near your hotel. I am constantly talking my husband out of going to McD%26#39;s....he too likes a good sized cup of coffee and loves the price for one there.

Buy a small immersion heating element. Take your own coffee and mugs and a plug adapter. Make your own coffee in your room to your heart%26#39;s content. Also check with your hotel to see if you can get a coffee/tea set up in your room. Sometimes they have electric water heaters for just this purpose. I also agree that you should ask at your hotel for continental breakfast which should include a lot of coffee.

Merci for all the great tips!!!!
