Amsterdam and Paris

We will be traveling to Europe in late April, early May. We will be spending one or two nights in Amsterdam and one or two nights in Paris. There will be 8 people in our group. Any recommendations for inexpensive lodging for each city? I did read other forums suggesting apartments are better than hotels. Do they rent apartments by the night, or just by the week?

Thanks for any input you can give.

most app in amsterdam (like anywhere in holland) are rented by the week or month, I googled found these, not cheap, but a hotel in the citycentre is a lot more, if you dont need to be within the centre, just outside is a lot cheaper, there are metros, busses etc

I don%26#39;t think apartments are the best choice, especially for first-timers. There are issues such as deposits, meeting to get keys, use/failure of appliances, etc. Hotels are much easier. Just my opinion. Ask for twins/triples/quads if you want to share rooms.

AMSTERDAM:

I have not stayed in these personally, but based on my research I would do so. They are located in the general area of Museumplein/Leidseplein; de Munck is 1/2 block off the Amstel, by the Skinny Bridge.

The Residence Le Vert Galant looks like a nice hotel, and they have some rooms with kitchenettes.

The apartments on www.perfectlyparis.com and www.tourist-paradise.com rent by the week.

I have also done some research on bed and breakfasts. It seems a lot of places either require three-night rental depending on the bed and breakfast. It was only if it was 1 week prior to the stay that these bed and breakfasts would consider a 1 night or 2 night stay.

There was one bed and breakfast that had flexibility for 8 people, and it was located in Montmartre.

I found the Bellevue bed and breakfast near Disneyland-Paris that looked very nice as well. It looked it could accommodate 8 people.
