our dates are the last week of march and we want to visit the D-day beachesand American cem.and see some of the coast area. How long should we stay on the major A-13 before getting onto more scenic roads and stil get to somewhere around Lisieux Caen before dark?Just don%26#39;t know where to start. Arva

First, you need to get a map and see where you want to go. For driving time, use the Michelin web site but add at least 25% to the time they give you. I recently drove from Giverny to St. Lo and I recall it took about 4 - 5 hours. If you want to see the D-Day beaches, Bayeux is closer to Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery. I would take the main highway as close to your destination as possible. You will have ample opportunity to drive the local roads around the Normandy Beaches.

You should be in Normandy by late afternoon.
A great site to help you plan your itinerary is viamichelin.com. They will list travel times and include nearby sights to visit.
