The journey you have planned is quite feasible, if you are visiting all the landing beaches, from Pegasus Bridge on the Orne canal, to Ravenoville just north of Utah Beach is about 60-70 miles in total.
Omaha Beach will suprise you, now it is so quiet, and in itsel;f a lovely flat wide beach, ideal for holidays...a far picture from D Day, and the struggle that went on there.
Mont st Michel, wonderful sight, just beware of all the touristy shops as you make your way up those steps, and those steps! seem neverending, but the abbey is well worth the climb.
We have been visiting Normandy since 1978, unfortunately most of the landing sites have been tidied up for the 50th and 60th anniversaries, now very manicured appearance, but don%26#39;t forget to visit the American cemetry, and bre prepared to shed a few tears.
Safe journey, and I hope you enjoy the trip.

You%26#39;ll have a great time. You definitely need a car to get you around but the french coast is absolutely beautiful and the respect and gratitude that they show for the allied efforts in WWII is really quite moving.

Yes. I made a similar trip last year but I started in Amsterdam. The roads are excellent and the scenery is beautiful. I suggest you think about staying at La Ducrie (see comments on this site) and make excursians form there. It is a good central location with easy access to the highways.

Go to www.mappy.fr for a good route planner.
Have you thought of using the tunnel to save time - only 35 mins.
Go over Pont de Normadie, into Honfleur, on to Bayeaux and then to Circular cinema at Aromanche, down into Aromanche and on to American Cemetery on to Omaha Beach.
If you do go to S M M - A GOOD WAY FOR 4 DAYS IN FRANCE
Get there for an early start.

I am curious...did you take this route when visiting Normandy? We want to do something similar this June. Would you recommend this? What would you do diferently? Was it difficult driving in France? So many questions! ANy advice/hints would be much appreciated.
