Escargot anyone?

I always like to sample local foods and was just wondering if anyone else tried escargot in France and what their experience was.

I think that snails taste like garden dirt covered with garlic butter. The French call it terroir. I prefer my terroir in a bottle of Bordeau, thank you very much.

For local foods I prefer the large seafood platters (including the sea snails, which are a vast improvement on the terrestial variety IMHO). Confit and magret de canard are delicious to my buds, as is the sole meuniere, but for some reason I can not take skate wing... aile de raie. But really, with cuisine, it all comes down to personal taste.

some people tell escargots are like %26#39;crottes de nez%26#39; lol, the things you find in your nose :D i like it, but it is strange. i could not eat it too much, maybe i eat it one a year, like andouillette which is typically french but well a bit disgusting when you know with was it is made ;)

Garlic. That%26#39;s all they taste of, garlic soup. Blindfolded I couldn%26#39;t tell if it was snails or not.

Crottes de Nez. I LOVE THAT. Too funny. Just like oysters remind me of Gorilla snot.

Come visit us! We%26#39;ll treat you to some fine Rocky Mountain oysters! :)

I usually enjoy escargot. I like them in garlic butter, but I%26#39;ve had delicious ones cooked in a cream sauce and then covered in a layer of puff pastry.

Truffaut would that be Petit gris en brioche a la creme de Roquefort? That is how I like mine.

Alexth82..you need to tell me now what is the meaning of %26quot;lol%26quot;;

I have been scratching my head trying to make sense of that for some times now..lord oh lord! I remember tasting delicious escargots in Honfleur years ago..no garlic but musrooms and a very yummy sauce. They are NOT cdnez and please friends have some respect for the oysters.

LOL = Laughing Out Loud

I think if you can eat a clam, oyster, mussel, scallop, conch, etc you can eat a snail.

Thanks Jack.. lol...and consider that oysters are said to be good for men!
