I have heard that this place is really good, but also really expensive? Do they have a fixed price lunch menu that is less expensive and how much is it per person? Anyone ever eat there? What is your opinion of it?

Yes, I have eaten there, and yes it is up there price-wise, but it is worth it for the experience of a great classic paris bistro.
I think they do have a prix-fixe at lunch, and, if memory serves, it%26#39;s somewhere around 40 Euros, perhaps even a little north of that.
Four of us ate ferociously well there one night, drank a couple or three bottles of pretty good wine, had coffee and armagnac after, and the bill was stupidly high - but we could have eaten almost as well for a good bit less. I%26#39;d still think at least 75 Euros each with a modest wine at dinner time.
Unless they have changed their policy, they used to accept neither credit cards nor cheques. (There is a long and humorous story atached to that piece of information. Let%26#39;s just say if it had been an equally expensive New York restaurant, I think I%26#39;d still be washing dishes there...)

I think I may go for lunch- just for the experience. I am actually a big fan of the Barefoot Contessa(cookbooks/Food Network) and I have her Barefoot in Paris cookbook. In there she recommends it as she has an apartment in Paris. I figure if she eats there- I can%26#39;t be that bad! It is very close to my hotel too. Do you think I need a reservation for 1 person?

Yes, I would definitely book, and probably sooner rather than later. Despite the elevated prices it is very popular, mostly I think with a well-heeled older set of patrons. I seem to recall a lot of Chanel on the ladies, and a lot of beautifully coiffed grey hair...
Take a hearty appetite - and enjoy!
