Hi

I%26#39;m heading to Paris on the 12th May for 5 nights - I%26#39;ve just booked a hotel for 76 for Double room per night. 380 total for 5 nights.

The reviews on tripadvisor are very good (have a look) - across the road is a metro station(pink line) or 5-10mins walk is rer station(blue line) to CDG airport.

The hotel name is Le Nouvel Orleans and it is part of the Best Western hotel chain.

Heres the website address:

Hope this helps

Hi Irishcoleen!

I%26#39;m an Irish coleen myself, and just back last weekend after 6 nights in Paris. Wow, what a holiday....it was my first time there, and I would go back in a flash!

We stayed in a lovely little hotel - Hotel Saint Pierre - in the St. Germain area. I%26#39;ve written a review on it in the review section if you want to check that out. It really was a nice hotel - we paid 77euro a night for the double room, and that included our breakfast! We booked it on 0800paris-hotels.com. Just click on the St. Germain area of the map and it will bring up the hotel. It was great value, clean and comfortable, and near loads of restaurants, which means in the evening after your day of touring, you can come back to the hotel, freshen up and spend the evening walking around the lovely Latin Quarter and St. Germain area. There are lovely windy, cobbled little streets where you have a choice of eating a full meal, or just grabbing a kebab or gyros, eating as you stroll around soaking up the buzz.

The hotel is close to the Odeon stop which has a line to Chatelet (takes about 4 mins), where you can catch a metro on just about any line. It%26#39;s the one we connected at all the time. The metro is so easy to use, you%26#39;ll wish we had it here! And it%26#39;s very safe, so don%26#39;t be worried about using it late in the evening. We were on it at about 10.30pm one evening and it was full of tourists, and women travelling on their own, office workers on their way home, etc.

With regards to the best sights to see, it depends on what you are interested in. Notre Dame is lovely and is quite close to that hotel, so it could be a quick stop in the morning. The Eiffel Tower is a must...it is Paris! I absolutely loved Montmatre, and Sacre Coeur. We went to Versailles which was out of this world, but it%26#39;s a day trip so you%26#39;d have to think about whether you want to use up a day or not. The Louvre is great, there are some really interesting things in there. I was more interested in the archaeological artifacts dating back thousands of years that the paintings, but it depends on what you are into. TIP: Take the metro to the Louvre Musee stop, as when you get out there, you are actually under the pyramid and don%26#39;t have to queue from the grounds on the outside. A stroll along the Champs Elysee is an experience and the Arc de Triomphe. A River boat cruise on the Seine is a MUST. We did it with Bateaux Parisien at the Eiffel Tower end at 9pm and it was really an experience. You see things that make Paris Paris! They also take your picture as a momentum!

A good itinerary for you trip would be Notre Dame first in the morning, onto the Eiffel Tower. Louvre the following morning, followed by walking through Place du Concorde onto Champs Elysee and up to the Arc de Triomphe. The following day could be spent in Montmartre, and back for a lovely night time cruise along the Seine.

Sorry for such a long reply, but being a first time visitor to Paris also, I understand how you want to know stuff!! Hope this helps!

Bon Voyage!!

I have nothing further to add to this advice, I just wanted to say that I%26#39;m an Irish Colleen too. In fact, that was my birth name!
