I am off to Paris very soon aand just love eating in really good value restaurants where the locals eat. Any suggestions welcome! Last time I was in the city I was directed to La Cave de l%26#39;Os a Moelle and this was excellent. Would enjoy something similar. Many thanks.

We really enjoy Restaurant Chez Charles-Victor on rue Brezin near the Mouton-Duvernet metro stop.

I%26#39;ll start this one off. I think you might like Astier in the 11th arrondissement, on the rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud. Off the usual tourist track, good honest bistro food, a great cheese board and wine list. I haven%26#39;t been there for a couple of years but loved it the last time I was there. Handy to Pere Lachaise if you were thinking of a visit. I%26#39;d guess around 25 Euros these days maybe. Parmentier metro station.
Bon appetit!

I think what is going on with Paris restuarants is that a few of the top chefs are sick and tired of the pressure of working in some of the big hotels. So, a few of them have opened up their own, smaller places. Some of them offer absolutely excellent values.
My top two picks:
La Pre Verre. Latin Quarter. 8 Rue Thenard between Rue des Ecoles and Blvd. St Germain. Near the Cluny. They have a GREAT 25 euro prix fixe for dinner, 12 euro for lunch. You will need a reservation.
Cafe Constant. In the 7th (near Champs du Mars, Eiffel Tower). What a find! I paid about 60 euro for two for a wonderful meal. Christian Constant is a world-renowned chef and proves his skill with this restaurant.
Some of my other picks are Chartier, the Brasserie at the Hotel du Louvre, and Doudingue in Montmartre.

Chez Georges in the 2nd arr, my favorite bistro in Paris (very much what a Parisien bistro should be). Le Coupe-Chou in the 5th, oozing Left Bank romantic charm.
