Eiffel Tower - Samaritaine. How far?

I%26#39;m still trying to work out my itinerary, and I%26#39;m not sure about distances between two points and how long it takes to walk them. I wanted to walk from the Eiffel Tower to The Samaritaine in Rue De Rivoli, can anyone tell me approximately how long this would take? I am very fit and do a lot of walking at home! Also approximately how long does it take to walk the length of Avenue Champs Elysee from the Arc De Triomphe to Des Jardin de Tuilleries? Thank you everybody!

At a rough guess I%26#39;d say that the first is about 5 km or ~ 3 miles, the second about 3 km or ~ 2 miles, from the Arc de Triomphe to the Louvre pyramid.

How long it will take to walk depends on how often you stop or make a litle detour to investigate something interesting. At least an hour for the first. (I%26#39;d probably take two, and walk an extra mile in the process!) Maybe a bit less for the second - say 45 minutes.

I%26#39;d guess, without looking at a map, that the Eiffel Tower to Samaritaine (dark side of the Louvre? or is that a different department store?) might be about 4-5 km and just over an hour. I%26#39;ve done that walk before. As a pedestrian, be careful which bridge you cross over the Seine, especially any of the ones close to Pont de Concorde. Their massive auto exchanges are not good places for squirrels on the road.

Length of Champs Elysees from the Arc de Triomphe to Jardin de Tuilleries can%26#39;t be more than 2 km. It takes only about 20 minutes on foot.

DarthAnonymous, %26#39;dark side of the louvre%26#39; sounds ominous, not sure whether this is the same department store. I%26#39;m actually not interested in shopping there, they have an open air roof terrace cafe with 360 degree views of Paris!

I lived by the Samaritaine for about 3 years and know that it takes about an hour and 20 mins to get to the tower. Rather than taking the rue de Rivoli, take the rue st dominique through the 15th, to the 7th, finally the 6th and then cross over either the Ponts des Arts or Pont Neuf.

I just did that walk and its definitely do-able. But you can hit the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triumphe, Jardin de Tuilleries and Samartaine all in the same walk. Thats what I did. My hotel was on Ile de la Cite, right by Samartaine. So I walked past that, then went down Rue de Rivoli (past the Louvre), turned into Jardein de Tuilleries and walked thru that. I then came out at Place de la Concorde which is at the end of Champs Elysee. I walked down the boulevard all the way to the Arc. Then walked over to the Eiffel Tower from there. The entire %26quot;round trip%26quot; walk was 11 miles, according to my pedometer. (And 10 miles a day is what I usually averaged)

DarthAnonymous and you are both talking about the same store, Helking. Not sure why he refers to it as %26quot;the dark side of the Louvre%26quot; except that it is the north side and therefore doesn%26#39;t get any sun...

dark side...I was thinking far side (opposite the Eiffel Tower) actually...then Pink Floyd...then forgot about my dumb forum name. It sort of goes together. The forum didn%26#39;t want me to use my real name and I%26#39;d just reviewed the upcoming Star Wars thing so...a wandering mind is a dangerous thing.
