Roeun

Will be in this quaint town on May 01 and would like to know if a restaurant will be open or any museums. I know Joan of Arc died here and we went thru in a hurry three years ago. What are some places we need to visit. Merce

May 1 is both a Sunday and a national holiday. Some places that would normally be open will therefore possibly be closed. I think the Fine Arts museum (Musee des Beaux Arts) should be open as should the Ceramics museum (Musee de la Ceramique). Both are worth a visit. The cathedral, of course, which should be open in the afternoon, as should the Eglise St. Ouen. The place where St. Joan was burned at the stake is in the Place du Vieux Marche and there is a striking modern church there - the Eglise Ste. Jeanne d%26#39;Arc.

Otherwise just walking around old Rouen is rewarding.

The last time I was there I had a very good meal at a lovely restaurant called Le Beffroy, 15 rue Beffroy. It is normally open on Sundays. If you want to eat there I would recommend a reservation as soon as possible - Tel: 02 35 71 55 27 according to my notes.

Bon voyage!
