Paris & Loire in September

Planning our 1st trip to Paris %26amp; environs for September, however, have read that September is tough to find accomodations due to conventions. Does anyone know if this is true %26amp; how difficult finding rooms truly is? We could go late August if it would be a better time. Planning 3 fairly hectic days in Paris at the %26quot;must-see%26quot; attractions, then relaxing in Versailles and touring the Loire by car for another 3 days (from Amboise) and then continuing to Florence for last 3 days of trip. Any reason to not stay near the Louvre (too busy, noisy, expensive)?

No reason not to go in September. Just book your room ahead of time for Paris. Around the Louvre is good, but you will pay more. Try around the Opera or Rue St. Dominique. Rooms are small, but work well and cost less. Metro is very good and easy to understand. Loire should be great this time of year. Sunflower fields should still be in bloom.

Mid-September is usually busy for hotels in the Porte de Versailles area (in the 15th) because of sales shows or big shows like Salon de l%26#39;Auto (car show). Otherwise beginning of September is my uusual month since trhe weather is still nice and French people are back to work.

Latin Quarter is a nice spot, close to everything. All depends on how much you feel like paying for your room, how big you want the room to be (remeber a room is mostly for sleeping not to watch TV), etc.

Make your hotel choice and booking as soon as possible and you should be OK. You don%26#39;t say what kind of hotel you are looking for but the more popular budget options in particular are often booked months in advance.

Another area you might want to consider is the Marais - 4th arrondissement. A wide range of hotel choices, lots of good restaurants, and lively neighborhood cafes and bars - and a bit less hectic than the Latin Quarter.

Have a great trip!
