Layover options in Heathrow

I am travelling from Toronto to Paris on BA and have an 8 hour layover at Heathrow. What are my options for the 8 hours.

Can I check my luggage in Toronto all the way through to Paris and leave the airport for a side trip or am I forced to pickup my luggage, clear British customs, and recheck it for the Paris flight? I%26#39;d rather not drag my luggage around all day in the city.

I%26#39;ve never had a layover that long on BA but my experience is this. If your flights are all with BA, then your luggage is automatically checked thru to your final destination by BA. I would suggest getting a cab into town and seeing a sight or two. Just leave plenty of time to clear security when you arrive back at Heathrow. If money is no object, arrange to have a driver meet you at the airport and drive you around to what you want to see, then take you back to the airport. Sort of minivacation!

You will have to clear customs in London. Not sure if you will be stuck with your bag or not. In any case - you can take the Underground (metro) from Heathrow into central London. There%26#39;s so much to do in London. I enjoy the Tower of London which is right by the River Thames and Tower Bridge.
