Favorite spot to people watch

My favorite Latin Quartier spots to people watch while sitting at a sidewalk table.

1.)Place de la Contrescarpe - a little less frantic than other spots, but busy enough to be interesting. I usually stay just a short walk away from this spot and often have a nightcap of grand marnier just before bed. I%26#39;m not suggesting you cross town for it, but if you are staying in the 5th Arr. then seek it out at the top of rue Mouffetard.

2.)Place St Andre des Art - always busy with an exit from the St-Michel metro very handy. We usually find ourselves here late afternoon and weary. A needed resting spot on way back to hotel.

3.)Intersection of: rue du buci; rue de l%26#39;Ancienne comedie; rue dauphine; rue St-Andre des art. Several tiny streets intersect in this very busy area. Before or after dinner hangout for plotting our next move.

4.)The very famous Les Deux Magot, my wifes favorite spot, so we end up there. Good for watching people with designer shopping bags.

Those were GREAT suggestions, Jack.

I also like sitting outside at Starbucks on Blvd St. Germain. You run into Parisians and Americans alike. Also, the Cluny has a wonderful garden. I buy lunch at McDonald%26#39;s across the street (yes, McDonald%26#39;s) and sit in the garden at the Cluny.

Besides the entire city?

Any park bench.

The animal market on Quai de la Megisserie.

I like the famous cafes along Blvd. Montparnasse, such as La Rotonde, Le Select, Le Dome, etc. for people watching.

Also, the ones right on Place Edgar-Quinet, 14th arr., close to the Montparnasse Cemetary.

Also, the cafes along Avenue Victor-Hugo, mainly on Place Victor-Hugo, in the chic and upscale 16th arr.

Very Parisian and a lot less touristy compared to other areas.

Place de Passy and Place du Trocadero (especially at Carette%26#39;s) are wonderful spots for people watching just as well.

I love all of Jack1066%26#39;s suggestions and could have written them myself! I also like the cafe%26#39;s at the tip of Ile St. Louis and the Place Dauphine.

Thank you for all these suggestions!!! All of these spots sound incredible and fun.

Around the Eifel Tower. So many people trying to take the same sad pictures, as if anyone is really going to find it funny back home when they get the photos out which shows then %26quot;holding up%26quot; the Tower in their hands.

Yet you also see moments of complete joy such as the couple in their 70%26#39;s having their picture taken by a complete stranger whilst they kiss in the shaddow of la Tour Eifel

In the Boucicaut garden in front of the Bon Marche dept. store as all the fashionistas, jet setters and shopaholics of the world stroll by. Not typically Parisian, but certainly eye candy.

The Luxemburg Garden. Just lounge there and people watch epecially on a nice weekend.
