I have heard about the 4 digit ATM requirement but I read on the London forum that Paris does not allow you to start with a 0, another post said this was inaccurate. Does anyone know for sure? It suddenly became an issue for my upcoming trip.

Never heard such a thing. But why not be safe and change your number before you go?

Call your bank and check w/ them. I also asked my bank which ATM%26#39;s I could use w/out being charged a fee. If you use Bank of America, your in-luck. Goodluck!

My last card had a 4-digit pin that started with a zero and I don%26#39;t remember having any problems with it.

Yes. Some ATM%26#39;s around the world (Paris included) require a four digit ATM PIN.
Some US ATM cards have five number PIN%26#39;s. Your bank will be able to provide you with instructions on how to work the other ATM%26#39;s.

Cool on the BofA tip. Washington Mutual zaps you $3 on non WaMu ATM%26#39;s (or was it different for international ATM%26#39;s?).
I thought about opening a HSBC (based in Hong Kong) account in order to use ATM%26#39;s in Hong Kong for free.
